What to expect

Your treatment, start to finish

What it feels like

Much lighter than a normal massage. Long, slow, repeating strokes that follow the direction your lymph naturally drains, rather than deep pressure into the muscle. Most people find it very relaxing, and some drift off entirely.

What it helps with

Puffiness and fluid retention, that heavy feeling in the legs after a long day on your feet or a long flight, and bloating around the tummy. It is also a lovely treatment if you just need an hour to slow down.

After your treatment

Drink plenty of water, and expect to need the toilet more than usual over the next day. Feeling a little tired afterwards is normal and passes. You will get a written aftercare sheet to take home.

Questions

Lymphatic drainage massage, answered

How much is lymphatic drainage massage in Burnley?

At The Wellness Edit in Hapton, a full body lymphatic drainage massage is £30, and a full body treatment finished with an aromatherapy back, neck and shoulder massage is £45.

Where can I get lymphatic drainage massage near me?

If you are in Burnley, Padiham, Accrington or Hapton, The Wellness Edit is close by. Mia works from Michelle Green, Bentley Wood, on Accrington Road in Hapton (BB11 5QH), a couple of minutes from junction 9 of the M65. That is about 5 minutes from Padiham, 10 from Burnley or Accrington, and 15 from Clitheroe, Great Harwood and Rishton.

How long does a lymphatic drainage massage take?

Full body is 50 minutes, and the full body plus aromatherapy back, neck and shoulders is an hour and a quarter. Time is left between clients so nothing is rushed.

Does lymphatic drainage massage hurt?

No. It is one of the lightest massages there is. The pressure is gentle and rhythmic rather than deep, because the lymph vessels sit just under the skin.

How often should I have lymphatic drainage?

It varies from person to person. Many clients book a course of treatments close together and then come back every few weeks. Mia will talk through what suits you after your first session.

Should I book lymphatic drainage or wood therapy?

Lymphatic drainage is very light and rhythmic, and it is aimed at easing puffiness and fluid retention. Wood therapy uses hand-shaped wooden tools with firmer pressure, and it is aimed at smoothing, toning and circulation. If you are not sure which one to book, ask Mia.

Can I add aromatherapy to a lymphatic drainage massage?

Yes. The full body lymphatic drainage plus back, neck and shoulder aromatherapy massage is £45 and takes an hour and a quarter.
